10 Reasons Why You Need to Visit Egypt Now!

If you read travel blogs and magazines like me, you know what destinations are going to be hot, hot, hot in 2015 but strangely enough one country was left off every list I read – Egypt!   Things have now settled in Egypt and the country is screaming out for travellers so I thought I would do a cheeky post on 10 reasons why you need to visit Egypt now!

No Queues

Queueing, my pet hate – on our recent visit in October last year there were NO queues anywhere.  The biggest bonus is that you won’t get hordes of folks in your photos especially when visiting the Pyramids.

More bang for your buck

If you’re on a budget then you’re going to love Egypt – it’s super cheap; you will get amazing deals on hotels, felucca rides and the cost of living is scarily cheap!  Shopping in the bazaars are so much fun and you can get some incredible deals if you look around.

5 star luxury for 3 star prices

Want to stay in Egypt’s most luxurious and famous hotel the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, well you can with prices starting at just £105 – seriously good value and the views are incredible.

Falafel lovin’

If I had found a t-shirt saying “I love falafel” in the bazaar I would have bought it.  Egypt serves up the best falafel and I could happily eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Shall we let the picture do the talking!

The friendly locals

The Egyptians are incredibly welcoming folks and love having tourists in their country.  As there aren’t that many westerners travelling in Egypt at the moment, everyone wants to talk to you!  I received a lot of cuddles that day at Giza ( I love a big cuddle or ten…).

Crazy Cairo

You need to experience crazy Cairo; it’s just so darn crazy and I love it!  The hustle and bustle, the speed freak taxi drivers and the haunting call to prayer makes this a great place for a city destination (with Giza only a short taxi ride away)

The crazy camel photo

No travel photo album is complete without the terrible camel photo!

Death on the Nile

Reading Death on the Nile while sunbathing beside it may sound like a cliche however gazing up from my book to admire the Nile made me feel like I was part of the story.

Egypt needs you!

Book a flight and get your bottom to Egypt in 2015 as you won’t regret it; the history, the people and the food make this country a magical destination.

Tell Mr Kiwi that he has to go – he won’t end up with sand in his undies probably just his shoes! xx

You need to go Amanda, it’s just such a fascinating country. This was my third visit and I still can’t get enough of the history of the place x

Thanks Frankie! They sure are – they have such attitudes and are just so crazy! I’m slightly obsessed with them for some reason xx

So informative! That hotel sounds like amazing value for somewhere so top-end and I didn’t realise the crowds don’t gather in Egypt – always imagined the pyramids would be packed full of tourist coaches and people everywhere! It’s so easy to do in a week as well, I don’t know why I haven’t gotten round to it yet!

Thanks Shikha, the tourists have stayed away due to all the unrest so if you fancy Egypt now is the best time to go as everything is super cheap and its less crowded. There were about 10 buses full of kids on a school trip and I would say I saw about 25 western tourists tops when I was at the Pyramids which is crazy as before the unrest the coaches were lined up and you couldn’t move! You need to go! You would love the Old Cataract Hotel; tell Pumpkin you need to go xx

You will love Egypt and to be honest I didn’t have any problems but I made sure to cover myself up – they love having tourists in the country and the sites are so empty that you’re going to come back with fabulous uncluttered photos! Have a great trip to Egypt xx

Ahhh – so many good reasons to get myself to Egypt asap. I’ve been putting it off to be honest because I wasn’t sure about safety but maybe I just need to do some real research. Do you have a basic itinerary you would recommend if going for one week?

I think safety wise you should be fine as they are really protecting the tourists that are in the country.
Spend 2 nights in Cairo, 2 nights in Aswan (as you need to take a very early morning trip to Abu Simbel) and 2-3 nights in Luxor but it depends if you want to spend some time in the sunshine at a nice resort then I would highly recommend spending a few nights at The Old Cataract Hotel as it’s just gorgeous x

Thank you so much for this post! I have been planning a trip to Egypt and anyone I tell says “ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?!” or “Haven’t you heard of ISIS?!” And their remarks finally started to get to me. And then, in perfect timing I found this post! I think I shall continue planning my trip :) Egypt and the pyramids have been on my list for EVER! A tad bit nervous because rotten luck likes to follow me but I just can’t get Egypt off my mind lately.

Hey Lexie! No worries and you’re not crazy at all! You must go to Egypt and obviously when you are there just make sure you have your wits about you and you will be fine. The police are taking extra special care with the tourists that are visiting the country and at the end of the day nowhere is safe these days from terrorists – if we all lived in feared we wouldn’t venture out of own homes to explore the world! I hope you get to venture to Egypt and if you do please let me know what you thought of the country xx

Great post! I really like it. I believe Egypt is the trip which gives lifetime experiences for every person. It is one of the biggest and oldest countries around the world. A few weeks ago, I went there with my family. At that time I contacted with Ask Aladdin. It is one of the famous travel agencies. We enjoyed our trip with the help of this agency. Thanks for sharing with us such a lovely post.
