My Life Goal, ze Weight

Small weight gain…I bought new jeans over the weekend which currently feel like a gastric band…have to remind myself not to wear them on the plane next weekend.

Shake Your Booty

Just my usual osteopath exercises and they are working; strengthening and toning at the same time.

What I’m Up Too…

I’ve spent much of today scrolling through the #eqnz hashtag on twitter…my family in Auckland are okay; they felt the big quake that hit the South Island however didn’t feel the small one (still in the 4’s so not small really!) that had an epicentre just down the road from them in Auckland.

I have my fingers and toes crossed for New Zealand especially as day break is almost near so we will be able to truly see the extent of the damage then…if you thought earthquakes are bad…just add a tsunami into the equation and that’s what many folks in New Zealand have had to deal with overnight.

There are idiots on twitter currently saying there is no risk of a tsunami however there officially is…while social media can be a good thing at times…there are some real knobs that use it when it’s required in an emergency including people using bots on the #eqnz hashtag (just no words!)…weirdly most of these knobs are in the UK today!

This tweet was my favourite from the US election…

…I don’t care how people voted as long as they placed a vote to be heard…you may not agree with the outcome but that’s democracy for you!

By the way @johnlewis is a must follow at this time of year on twitter…the poor sucker gets every silly tom, dick and harry from the UK tweet him over the christmas ad…

…the correct department store twitter handle is @johnlewisretail…

…his replies are priceless every year!

Can I just say I was disappointed with the John Lewis ad…don’t succumb to buying your kids a dog for christmas as they’re for life and not just for christmas…however I thought the Aldi Christmas Ad absolutely rocks and makes me chuckle every time I see it.

Life Lately

The past few weeks have been hard, I won’t lie.  This week was G’s dads birthday so emotions were running a bit high as expected…and I feel rather exhausted with it all now and not helped with a two week period plus a lack of sleep.

At times I do feel like I’m coping and then other moments I don’t feel like I’m coping at all; things have really changed for G and I over the past few months, more than I will ever explain on here…I unfollowed a lot of people from twitter a few weeks ago as the normal life noise was just too much for me to take.

As I say all the time…life isn’t all unicorns and rainbows.

    Hi Kelly,
I discovered your blog recently and I love the way you write – warts and all … it is SO refreshing from the picture perfect life people seem to want or need to display to the world, that life is perfect.
I work in a Hospice and see what life really throws at people, but you know what, I liken life to walking down a long dark tunnel, and never knowing what shit is about to hit you!

I am currently reading a book on Mindfulness which we use with our patients and it is really interesting, but obviously a practice you have to develop every day. I hope you are able to restore your body and spirit on your holiday, because sometimes you just have to let yourself “be”.

Keep up your great writing …. it is a tonic for all your readers, and have a great trip. :)

      Hi Angela,
Aww thanks so much for your kind comment and yes agree that life isn’t picture perfect however folks seemed the need to portray this to the world. You would definitely see what life throws at people working at a hospice; it was so hard to watch G’s dad struggle in his last few days and to see that daily you need to have a very strong character, I admire you deeply.
Ohhh I would love to know the title of the book and yes fingers crossed that I will be able to blow away a few cobwebs in Greece…fingers crossed for strong winds hehe.
Thank you so much once again for the taking the time with your comment, you are exactly what I needed to read today.

Agree with you on the John Lewis ad. I hadn’t seen the Aldi one before but that’s really cute! M&S have produced a good advert this year as well.

Sorry that things have been tough for you lately, I hope things will get better soon xx

I thought the M&S ad was so well done as well! It’s great to see quite of few companies taking a more traditional approach this year apart from John Lewis which seems to be a bit bonkers really. xx

Sorry that things have been rough, I hope you all managed one way or another over G’s Dad’s birthday. Good on John Lewis for doing his best to cheer us all up! He’s such a legend. Sometimes I wonder how much money John Lewis the shop must have offered him for the account, and laugh that he’s continued to hold out.
