Kelly Michelle's Diary Week 27

My Life Goal, ze Weight

Small small small weight loss…still counting my calories and what I’m putting into my gob…this modern day career girl, came home on Wednesday and made roast beef, gluten free yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings for dinner plus I made a pavlova…I peeled every spud myself…I may have eaten way too many calories that day!

Shake Your Booty

I had to give up my 12 week exercise program so one of the girls at work recommended Kettle bells…yeah you still do a lot of squats however my knees aren’t hurting any more…but my bum is seriously sore…my knees probably still hurt but my bum hurts more.  I do worry that I’m going to knock myself out with this kettle bell…G is shaking his head.

What I’m Up Too…

Currently I’m frustrated to hell as I’m trying to book flights and Qantas are just freaking dumb…as a consequence of getting mixed answers from Qantas, I’ve managed to lose my £10 booking fee with British Airways and the price of the flight has gone up £195…I HATE QANTAS!  This is the airline that was a world leader a number of years ago and then outsourced everything and it’s become one of the crappiest airlines around; most of my Australian friends won’t touch their national airline and one guy at work just flew them and said never again.

I would just love an easy life…you would think booking a flight would be simple…nope!  I deserve an easy few months….I really dooooooooo and I just want a holiday and to see my family…is that too much to freaking ask!?!?!  Qantas are *^$(£@$£$&(&$)*£…I feel better for saying that now…avoid them like the plague.

Today I decided to head to Warwick Castle and that was crap…how to wreck a perfectly wonderful piece of English history…turn the castle into an English version of Disneyland…it was tacky and overpriced beyond belief and I mean seriously tacky…I was inside the castle for less than an hour…that’s how bad it was…it’s got my number 1 position for the worst tourist attraction in England!  Silver lining, I found a great place that serves gluten free scones and Warwick itself is gorgeous but don’t bother with the castle; there are better alternatives that offer the same falconry and jousting days for half the price.

Kelly Michelle's Diary Week 27, 2016

I really have had a shit day today…I also feel like smothering G with a pillow for no reason at all…I don’t think the evening primrose oil is working for me tonight, I really don’t.

Tomorrow is a rather exciting day…I’m going to buy rubbish bin for the spare bedroom…I can’t tell you how excited I am!

I’m really craving wotsits….but they aren’t gluten free….whyyyyyyyy…I feel like crying.

I really loved this post from The Pin the Map Project about the rise of anti travel bloggers…I was nodding along all the time.  I think bloggers have got seriously lost over the past two years…I’ve seen bloggers become carbon copies of each other to the point that it’s cringe worthy and rather boring; trying to showcase their perfect life via their blog which is really unrealistic in real life and doesn’t bode well for impressionable readers of said blogs.  I share the good, the bad and the freaking ugly and will continue to do so; I am who I am…and I’m not going to become a mini me of some other blogger and this old dog isn’t going to learn any new tricks!

So what’s all the gossip?

I read that post by Pin the Map Project…I have a feeling there was some in particular that she was addressing it to… ‘floppy hats, the same twirl-worthy summer dresses, the same wanderlust shots paired with faraway looks’

Definitely agree Angie but agree with her, travelling isn’t all floppy hats and twirling dresses

I would largely have to agree with you about Warwick Castle, actually. I liked the actual bits of castle you could go around, and the dungeon, and the rose garden, and the rest was just OTT. I’ve been before in the winter which I think was good for minimal queueing, but if I’d paid full price to get in when it was busy I’d have been seriously unimpressed. I’m not on for the Disneyfication of places – that’s what I thought about Santorini, actually. Beautiful, but so fake! Speaking of Santorini, there were SO MANY ridiculous posing people there that it put the final boot in the ‘beautiful travel blogger’ trope for me. I’m so sick of it! All these ladies did was primp and take 1000 shots of them looking wistful, without actually engaging with their surroundings at all. Let alone their companions. I’m sure it translated into some beautiful images on their blogs, but in real life they just looked like plonkers. And I’m sure they learned nothing new about the place they visited except where the best lighting was.
Alright I’ll stop ranting now. I hope you found an excellent bin for your spare room :)

Haha you summed it all up beautifully Rachel! I really want to go to Santorini but in the off season…and I would do cheesy snaps. I wear jeans and tshirts on holiday; isn’t that what normal people take on holiday not a million instagrammable dresses xx

I think they did a big refurb a few years ago, it just comes across as a bit tacky! If I can get around to it and find some time, I may do the Warwick Castle post next week so we can compare notes! xx
